What is LASIK?
LASIK is a revolutionary eye treatment that allows you to get rid of spectacles or contact lenses in a safe, 10-minute procedure. It uses a hi-tech, computer-controlled Excimer Laser to remodel the shape of the cornea with micron-level precision.
How is the LASIK Procedure Performed?
- Step 1: A specialized Femtosecond Laser or automated microkeratome creates a thin corneal flap, which is gently lifted.
- Step 2: The pre-programmed Excimer Laser delivers cool laser pulses to reshape the inner layer of the cornea based on your prescription.
- Step 3: The corneal flap is repositioned. It reattaches naturally within minutes without any stitches.
Who is Eligible?
Ideally, anyone over 18 years of age with a stable spectacle number for at least 1 year.
When is LASIK NOT Recommended?
- Age below 18 years.
- Unstable or frequently changing prescription.
- Pregnancy or nursing mothers.
- Severe dry eyes.
- Corneal pathologies like Keratoconus.
- Very high power (where cornea thickness is insufficient).
Essential Pre-Operative Tests
Before surgery, we conduct a detailed evaluation to ensure safety:
- Corneal Topography: Mapping the surface curvature of your eye.
- Pachymetry: Measuring corneal thickness.
- Retina Evaluation: Checking the health of the back of the eye.
- Dry Eye Analysis: Ensuring sufficient tear production.
