Many of the people who ask us about Trans-PRK from Versova work in film, television and post-production, and some have a very specific concern: their face is on camera, or they work long shifts, and they want to understand exactly how much time the recovery will take. That is the honest conversation to have about this procedure. Trans-PRK is flapless and touch-free, which suits thinner corneas and active lives, including swimmers who use the beach and pools nearby, but the first week is slower than with LASIK, so it needs planning around a shooting schedule. Your first visit is an evaluation rather than a booking. We check how stable your prescription has been, measure corneal thickness with pachymetry, map the cornea and examine your tear film and retina. From Yari Road or the village side, an auto along J.P. Road takes roughly 10 minutes outside peak hours, and our OPD runs Monday to Saturday, 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, so you can come after a shift.
Divyajyoti Eye Hospital, Andheri West is a short run east along J.P. Road, roughly 10 minutes depending on traffic.
Versova sits at the western end of J.P. Road, so reaching our 7 Bungalows centre is essentially a straight run back east along the same road you already use for everything else. Most patients from Yari Road, the village side and the lanes behind the beach take an auto and are with us in roughly 10 minutes outside peak hours. If you prefer the Metro, Versova is the terminus of the Blue Line (Line 1) and D.N. Nagar is a couple of stops away, with a short auto ride from there. Because our OPD runs Monday to Saturday from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, the many people here who work in film, television and post-production can come after a shift rather than losing a working day. Autos are easy to find on J.P. Road in the evening.

Touch-free, flapless surface laser vision correction, often considered when the cornea is too thin for LASIK.
Trans-PRK is often considered for:
It is not suitable if your prescription is still changing, during pregnancy or while nursing, or where the cornea shows an irregular or unstable pattern such as keratoconus. Because the surface heals over several days, you also need to be able to take that time off.
Suitability is confirmed only after the pre-operative workup and a discussion of what recovery will actually involve for you. [TODO: client to confirm price range]
Recovery after Trans-PRK is slower and less comfortable in the first few days than after LASIK, because the surface layer has to grow back. Expect watering, light sensitivity and a gritty or burning sensation for roughly two to three days while the epithelium heals under the bandage contact lens.
Useful vision commonly returns over the first week, with clarity continuing to sharpen and stabilise over several weeks. This gradual course is expected and does not mean something has gone wrong.
Plan for a few days away from work and screens, take the prescribed drops exactly as directed, and keep every follow-up appointment so that healing can be checked. Wear UV-protective sunglasses outdoors for as long as your surgeon advises, commonly several months. Individual recovery varies; contact us if pain increases rather than settles, or if vision suddenly worsens.
Vision recovers more gradually than with LASIK, and the first few days are usually the most uncomfortable. Plan your work around this, and your surgeon will advise based on your evaluation.
Not straight away. Your surgeon will tell you when it is safe to return to swimming, and the same applies to the sea and dusty sets.
Come east along J.P. Road to the 7 Bungalows bus depot; our ground-floor entrance is opposite. It is roughly 10 minutes by auto outside peak hours. The Metro Blue Line to D.N. Nagar and a short auto ride also work.
OPD runs Mon - Sat 5 p.m. - 8.30 p.m. (closed Sunday). Call or WhatsApp us and our front desk will help you. Cashless mediclaim and TPA empanelment available.
