Advanced diagnostics, such as Gonioscopy, allow ophthalmologists to examine the drainage angle of the eye directly, determining if it is open, narrowed, or closed.
Treatment and Management Options
While incurable, glaucoma can be controlled. Depending on the specific type and severity, treatment may involve prescription eye drops to lower pressure, oral medications, or laser interventions like the YAG Laser to open up blocked drainage canals. Strict compliance with the doctor's treatment plan is the best defense against vision loss.
